Dragon Quest IX Launches Japan stops working

Dragon Quest IX has launched for the DS in Japan. Fans eagerly queue up for the games’ launch. Traditionally DQ games have been know to cause a productivity decline in the country as the whole nation are huge fans of the series and eat it up eagerly.

Kotaku reporters are surprised that the people queuing up for Dragon Quest IX are normal people and not ‘gamers’.

[TGS 2008] Day 1 Updates – Game PV

Small update for TGS 2008 lots of great titles announced. 1 thing I noticed is that some of the Japanese Games trailers are made with western audiences in mind. Meaning they will be released overseas. Japanese Game companies do have to appleal to a wider audience now.

Nintendo announced yesterday at its Press Conference new DS product named the ‘DSi’. Upgrades are athe inclusion of an SD card for their online store and a camera. 7th Dragon – Website is Live

It turns out that SEGA’s mysterious new RPG is actually called 7th Dragon. The game is being handled by the makers of Etrain Odyssey. The character designs are cute though. Game Video PV Below

LEVEL5 Vision 2008 – Ninokuni – Report 2

Ninokuni: A Collaboration project with Studio Ghibli to proudce a game on the DS. Character Designs are very good. Here is some information about the game package:

The animation in the game is all by Studio Ghibli.
- Level-5 ’s first 10th Anniversary product.
- There will be a book bundled with the game filled with information on various magic crests and spell recipes. This ‘Magic Master’ book is something that the main character in the game has, and the player will need to refer to from time to time while playing the game.
- There will be a console version of the game, but the hardware is not decided yet.
- They want the console version to offer something different for people that have already played the DS version, the selection of the hardware will be based on which is most suitable for this purpose.
- The exact same book will be packaged with the console version as well.

Over at the Level-5 Vision Special Page they have lined up some of the new projects for the coming year. 2 of their New Projects ROID and the Studio Ghibli collaboration ‘Ninokun’, were interesting news announcements. I Don’t mind if White Knight Story is not on display cause the other game projects and titles look interesting themselves.
