CLANNAD After Story – 04 – Impressions (Okazaki vs Sonohara)

It seems that Okazaki and Sonohara relationship took a dive when they could not settle their differences about Mei. Mei, Nagisa and Okazaki goes to see Miyazawa about Sonohara, it seems that she is in a similar situation to Mei as she has a deliquent elder brother. in the end Mei-chan wanting her brother to join back the soccer club was a failure in the first place when they get mis-treated by the club members. Sonohara comes to rescue Mei who was getting bullied by them. After that He and Okazaki gets into a fight and they somehow managed to resolve their differences and thier feelings about Mei. The next day they meet and had a good laugh over it. Mei later writes a letter to Sonohara and saying to take care of himself and that she will find a good friend. Okazaki later pulls a prank on Sonohara as he does not know that Sanae-san is married to Akio-san and when Akio san hears about him wanting to date Sanae, he gets enraged and chases Sonohara with Okazaki laughing.

This episode was really good as it was an emotional ride, you feel wanting to beat up the soccer club members just like Sonohara did in the past as he could not take the abuse of their seniority towards him. I was glad that it was a happy ending, with the fight turning between Sonohara and Okazaki. It seems Sonohra’s reason for leaving the Soccer club were valid as he did not back down on his values and beliefs. Mei did not realise it till now and watching the ending she still respects him just like before. The ending for this episdoe was the best as it returned being funny with Sonohara’s clueless character starting all over again. The animation for this was well done and emotions could be felt from the characters. I look forward to more CLANNAD with the next episode.
