With the Playstation 3 getting more mainstream the PS2 will go down into history as the most widely played console. A new article series for ARIA Anime PS2 games I am calling "PS2 Gems" since I am now starting to track down old classic games for PS2 before they fade away…
I happened to be at G3 Games in Singapore looking to grab a PS3 game DMC4, but at the lower end of the shelves I saw a bunch of PS2 games, so I decided to check it out and I discovered a Sakura Taisen V game. I remember watching a bunch of Sakura Taisen OVAs and a movie but I never got to experience the games. Thankfully my PS3 is the 60GB version and it can play the games. But I also keep my Special Opensource PS2 around for import games like these.
The game audio is in Japanese but the subtitles and menus in chinese. There is an English instruction booklet as well to help gamers control Gemini and her horse. Overall the gameplay is simple and fun. This version comes with a preview disk of the 2nd Sakura Taisen V game and interview with the creators for the series.
I highly recommed getting this game to play if you are feeling the nostalgia of good old PS2 Japanese adventure games. Unfortunately you will need a PS3 80 GB or PS2 Japan / Asia version.

what region is your PS3?
as far as I know PS2 game are still region locked so my PAL PS3 can’t play NTSC PS2, but I maybe wrong :O

My PS3 is the 60GB Asia Version so playing NTSC/J PS2 is not a problem only trouble is that I cant play my US PS2 games

This is why I keep my PS2 set up… plays asian and JP ST tiles no probs…
