I have recently went to watch A Night in Fantasia 2007 (ANIF 2007)in Melbourne performed by the Eminience Orchestra. Its the first time I have been to a games anime Orchestra concert. Sadly the event was held for only 1 night. The chief conductor for that night was Philip Chu.

Since my ticket were 3 rows away from the stage the it was great to see the Music composers upclose as they came on stage to give an introduction to the pieces before being played. Also I could see the video display wall clearly showing the game / anime footage that accompanied the piece

Yasunori Mitsuda – (Appeared in Sydney only Video interview)
Junichi Nakatsuru (Namco Bandai Games)
Kow Otani – (Appeared in Sydney only Video interview)
Hitoshi Sakimoto
Go Shiina (Namco Bandai Games)
Yoko Shimomura – (Was unable to come)

Unfortunately not all the music composers were able to come. I am sure quite a few audience members were sad of not being able to get Yoko Shimomura autograph for their Kingdom Hearts II game.

Eminence in January 07 had recorded music for the upcoming anime Romeo X Juliet for GONZO. I have heard about this anime after seeing GONZO upcoming 2007 anime pipleline. GONZO is one of my fav anime production houses that uses a lot of CG (Yukikaze, Blue Submarine 6 & Yomigaeru Sora) After hearing the musical theme that night Romeo x Juliet has sparked more interest for me to watch it. (Hopefully I will have more time to write about it inbetween Gurren-Lagann and iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia)

For the Encore the theme song from Chrono Cross was played but there was no game footage shown. Still it was heartwarming to hear a game classic from Squaresoft.

Overall it was a very good experience. First ever game orchestra concert I have been. I did not have my camera with me that day but I will upload a photograph of the Program booklet I got during the show
